Group Size This tour takes a maximum of 32 people. (We adhere to a strict capacity limit.)
Tour Location This tour meets in Lower Manhattan about a block away from South Street Seaport. Most people refer to this neighborhood as the Financial District. Each tour visits at least one borough beyond Manhattan, but we don't announce our destinations in advance. If you've been on tours with us before, you can email us in advance so we can do our best to route your tour to fresh stops.
About this Tour This is our flagship tour. It travels the farthest and dives the deepest. Pizzeria stops rotate every week and we never announce our destinations in advance because it's always subject to change. If adventure and excitement is what you seek, this is the experience of your dreams. Your life will be different after this tour, that's a guarantee.
Every Sunday Bus Tour hits 4 pizzerias, starting with Keste in the Financial District. We cover the basics about pizza's origin in Southern Italy before blasting off to either Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, or Staten Island. Be ready for anything, because we've been known to hit pizza festivals, pop-ups, and all sorts of events you'd never have known about otherwise.
Your Guide Our founder Scott Wiener leads every single Sunday Pizza Bus tour. If there's no tour on the schedule, it means he's not in town. Scott started Scott's Pizza Tours back in 2008 pretty much by accident. He hosted a pizza crawl for his birthday, taking 26 friends and family members to some of his favorite pizzerias via yellow school bus. It was a blast and his friends begged him to do it again. And so Scott's Pizza Tours was born.
Scott has since become a globally recognized pizza expert featured in The New York Times, The Tonight Show, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and just about every other media outlet you can imagine. He writes for Pizza Today Magazine, judges pizza competitions, consults for pizza companies, and holds the Guinness World Record for largest collection of pizza boxes. Seriously.
Tickets We offer instant confirmation via email! No need to print your ticket, just show us the confirmation email and you'll be set. ADVANCE PURCHASE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, as tours usually sell out in advance.
What's Included? This tour include a full slice at every stop, kitchen tours, in-depth pizza analysis, and everybody of course gets a Pocket Pizza Journal to keep track of tasting notes. We'll hook you up with water at most stops, but you're welcome to purchase beer, wine, or soft drinks.
What's Not Included? Beer, wine, and soft drinks are not included. Your guide will be happy to recommend beverage pairings at each stop. Bring cash, as some of these pizzerias don't take credit cards.
Weather & Attire All tours run rain or shine. If we have to cancel due to unsafe conditions, we'll make that call by 9:30am on the day of your tour and alert you via email and phone.
We always recommend wearing comfortable shoes and dressing appropriately for weather. Even though this tour travels by bus, it's possible we'll hit at least 1 stand-up slice shop on a nice day.
What To Bring? We recommend bringing a refillable container for water. We discourage the use of bottled water, as New York’s tap water is among the cleanest and tastiest in the country.
Accessibility
Dietary Restrictions Our tours feature a comparison of cheese pizzas, which means everything we serve will be made of dough, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. All public tours are vegetarian! While we cannot provide slices to fit dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, tomatophobic) we will do our best to route the tour to at least 1 pizzeria that serves something you can eat. You will be able to purchase pizza to fit your dietary restriction. We'll also give you a discount code to knock down your ticket price. Please email us in advance!
Cancellation Policy Tours run rain or shine. If your plans change and you're unable to attend the tour, just follow the directions at the bottom of your confirmation email and we'll take care of you.
