About

Connecting to Nature and Beyond!

Get ready to dive into nature exploration this summer with Hawaiʻi Nature Center’s Oʻahu Nature Adventure Camp that helps us deepen our connection to and curiosity about nature, the outdoors, and each other. The four themes for Summer 2025 will rotate throughout our ten weeks of camp.

Each theme offers hands-on experience, engaging and active games and crafts, and opportunities to problem-solve and build lifelong skills, friendships, and appreciation for the natural world. Whether exploring the science, culture, and art of ocean voyaging, becoming a sustainability superhero to protect our incredible ecosystems here in Hawaiʻi, learning new ways to connect with nature through our five senses, or getting our hands dirty in the garden, your student will walk away with newfound knowledge and wonderful summer memories of fun, exploration, and connection to nature.

Every week features a field trip to learn about the theme in an inspiring new setting. Locations will rotate throughout the summer but will likely include locations such as our stunning coastline and beaches, farms and gardens of all shapes and sizes, and new trails to traverse.

We will not be swimming during any part of these weeks … but we will get wet and muddy!

Join us for a fun and action-packed summer at the Hawaiʻi Nature Center with our Summer Nature Adventure Camps!

Our Themes

Voyaging Across Oceania Come learn about how the Hawaiian tradition of voyaging is intertwined with nature, as Hawaiian and Polynesian voyagers have known for thousands of years. We’ll honor and learn about ties to greater Oceania, as well as the modern-day voyages of Hōkūle'a through action-filled games and crafts.

  • Week of June 2nd - Week of July 7th - Week of August 4th

Sustainability Superheroes Join us in becoming sustainability superheroes! Our world needs everyone’s help to ensure a greener future, so this week we’ll be learning about where the earth needs our help as we adventure along the streamside and forest floor. It’s time to put on our superhero capes and use teamwork to fight climate change and build hope for our future!

  • Week June 9th (4-day session) - Week of July 14th - Week of August 11th

Wilderness Wellness Take a deep breath of fresh forest air and see how exploring in nature not only brings fun, exercise, and new friends but also improves our wellbeing. Join us as we learn about plants that nourish our minds and bodies. Students will participate in mindful nature hikes, become attuned with their senses while fishing, and, most importantly, feel connected to the natural world.

  • Week of June 16th - Week of July 21st

Nature in My Backyard Did you know there’s nature all around us? From mountains to farms to our neighborhoods and backyards, learn about the interconnectedness of wild places to human made spaces. Keiki will bring home their appreciation for nature we build through hands-on stewardship activities such as nature friendly crafts and games.

  • Week of June 23rd - Week of July 28th
