Experience the beauty of Manitoga through a unique series of seasonal walks at Dragon Rock. Each immersive tour combines horticulture, meditation, and stunning landscapes, featuring guided hikes, exquisite picnics, and delightful refreshments. Engage with nature and design enthusiasts while exploring the House, Studio, and Woodland Garden in a serene setting.

Experience Manitoga in All Four Seasons

Manitoga presents a new series of immersive and inspired experiences that highlight all four seasons at Dragon Rock and in the Landscape. Each individually themed walk is designed to relax, teach and cultivate a sense of place with an extended, in-depth tour of the House, Studio and Woodland Garden with experts in horticulture and meditation. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES THE HOUSE, STUDIO, DESIGN GALLERY AND WITH EXTENDED FOCUS IN THE LANDSCAPE.

PLEASE NOTE: All experiences in this series include an extended moderate hike on Manitoga's choreographed foot trails, designed by Russel Wright to celebrate the seasons. Visitors must be able to negotiate uneven ground surfaces, areas of incline and decline, and several sets of steps including a 40-step stone stair with handrail.

Manitoga In Focus: Spring Blossoms & Bubbly

Saturday, May 31, 3-5:30pm $75 per person

Visitors embark from Mary's Meadow and ascend stone steps to pass through the blooming mountain laurels of the Laurel Field along the Killalemy Trail, with a picturesque stream crossing before descending to tour the House and Studio. Sparkling wine and strawberry mochi will be served amidst the laurel blossoms.

Manitoga In Focus: Summer Walk & Quarry Picnic

Saturday, July 9, 3-5:30pm $75 per person

Visitors follow the upper Quarry Path, featuring stunning views of the House and Studio, exquisite moss rooms and the majestic waterfall in the height of summer blooms. Enjoy a relaxed bento box picnic by provided by Hibino around the highly designed Quarry Pool at Dragon Rock before an exploratory 1.5 mile hike to the wilderness of Lost Pond Quarry.

Manitoga In Focus: Autumn Walk & Sunset Toast at Boulder Osio

Saturday, October 25, 3-5:30PM $75 per person

Visitors follow the upper Quarry Path to experience Dragon Rock in the majestic afternoon light during the height of the Hudson Valley's peak foliage season. Enjoy a wine toast at Boulder Osio and take in the historic Hudson River view, sparkling in the distance before descending the Autumn Path to the House and Studio. A charcuterie spread and conversation with other design enthusiasts awaits on Dragon Rock's terraces, overlooking the Quarry Pool at Sunset.

Manitoga In Focus: Welcome Winter! Forest Walk & Pine Tea

Saturday, December 6, 10am-12:30pm $75 per person

Enjoy a rare experience of Manitoga in early winter with a guided meditative walk through Russel Wright's Woodland Garden. Cindy Olsen, Mindful Outdoor Nature Guide, will provide a Forest Bathing walk, complete with freshly foraged pine tea and light snacks before the group tours the House and Studio at Dragon Rock.

All tours include The Russel & Mary Wright Design Gallery at Manitoga, featuring over 200 objects from the Wrights’ ground-breaking designs for the American home, opened May 2021 with lead support from the Henry Luce Foundation.


Important Information

  • Tours are conducted rain or shine. Please wear flat, outdoor-terrain walking shoes for uneven ground and dress appropriately for being outside in the weather.

  • As a reminder, the experience includes a mandatory moderate hike. Insect/tick repellent and drinking water are highly recommended. Picnic tables are available in the Meadow adjacent to the public parking lot, should you wish to picnic before or after your tour. Manitoga’s hiking trails are open daily from dawn to dusk and are accessible from the same parking lot.

  • Pets, backpacks, large purses and bags, tripods, cumbersome camera equipment, extension poles and selfie-sticks are not permitted.

  • For safety reasons, children must be at least 12 years old to attend this series. Infants are not admitted.
