This guided wilderness experience day-trip combines bog shoeing (or bog walking on wooden path) and canoeing. First, we walk through Riisa village and the forest to reach the largest peat-bog in Estonia – Kuresoo. We will wear bogshoes and walk on the wild landscape, followed by wilderness lunch. The trip ends with a relaxing canoe trip along Soomaa meandering rivers.
Equipment, guidance in English and a meal in the wilderness
You should wear comfortable clothes and footwear.
From 23th of April to 24th of June we are not using bog shoes and we will walk to the bog on a wooden path or walk on the edge of bog (with rubber boots if necessary). We are not going deeper into bog because of nesting birds!
Bog shoes are essential for comfortable and safe trekking through the wet peatlands.
Bring water to stay energized during the activities, especially on warm days.
Use insect repellent to avoid bites from mosquitoes and other insects.
Weather can change quickly; layered clothing keeps you comfortable.
