About This Adventure

Embark on an unforgettable journey to become a certified Open Water diver! This course offers the chance to explore the underwater world, dive up to 60 feet, and gain independence with a buddy. With engaging eLearning and hands-on training, you'll be ready for thrilling ocean adventures in just a few days!

Become an Certified Open Water diver!

This is where it all begins! This course is the standard starting point for your diving adventures! With an Open Water dive certification, you will be able to:

  • Dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 60 feet.
  • Obtain air fills.
  • Rent dive equipment.
  • Dive on your own with a buddy (who can be another Open Water Diver and does NOT have to be a diving professional)
  • Book boat dives.
  • Take additional specialty classes
  • Progress to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver level.

Course prerequisites

  • 10 yrs + (Divers certified between the ages of 10-14 earn a Junior Diver certification. Junior Open Water Divers automatically become Open Water Divers at age 15)
  • Able to swim and float
  • Medically fit for diving (Must pass the health questionnaire or submit the questionnaire plus a form signed by a doctor)

Time commitment

  • PADI eLearning: 5-10 hours
  • Course: In as little as 2-4 days

Course Requirements

  • Learn fundamental concepts about scuba through PADI eLearning ) (Don’t want to do homework on vacation? The PADI E-learning system allows you to complete your eLearning before arriving!)
  • You will need to complete a brief quiz upon arrival to confirm your understanding of the academic material.
  • Complete five confined water (pool) skill practice sessions. (usually completed in a half day 7AM - noon)
  • Complete four open water (ocean) dives. (over two half-days, usually done in the afternoon - 1pm - 4:30pm)
  • Complete a 10-minute swim/float demonstrating comfort in water too deep to stand
  • Complete a 200 meter/yard continuous surface swim or a 300 meter/yard swim with mask, fins and snorkel.

This course includes confined water training, and 4 open water training dives to complete your certification. (total of 3 half days). **Note: E-learning materials are not included in the certification price listed. eLearning can be purchased directly through PADI

  • Other students may be combined into the same class.
