About
Marko Matijašević is the founder and creative director of Amaranthine Books, a fine press publisher dedicated to creating beautifully designed special editions of classic works of literature.
Marko is dedicated to bringing each story to life through incredible visuals: he analyzes each title he chooses to publish, develops a creative concept for it, and then hires an illustrator whose style fits the story so they can take it to the next level. Throw in other unexpected details — like title pages written with actual blood for the Scholomance Edition of Dracula, which comes with actual soil from Bran Castle in Transylvania — and the end result is truly a work of art.
Marko is the first guest outside of New Mexico to grace our studio visit series. Amaranthine Books is based in Croatia (where SF Art Tours founder Elaine lived for a few years), but these books are so unique that we had to ask Marko to share them with us.
