About This Adventure

Welcome to GAMLA STAN - where medieval Stockholm meets the modern City! Our Old Town Walking Tour is a historic tour experience and a lovely addition to your time in Stockholm. You will learn new facts about the Old Town - Stockholm - Sweden (+ a touch on Nordic history and why we still today remain very close with our neighbours). Examples of questions you will get answers to:

Where is the oldest building? And the most narrow alley? Do people still today live in Gamla Stan? Living conditions? Was Gamla Stan a German colony, in times of the Hanseatic league? What really happened during the Stockholm Blood Bath? Were there ever Vikings in Stockholm? Where did the Executioner live? The Hell Street? The Ghetto? (haunted...?) Why did a French officer become Swedish King in the 1800's? And most importantly: Do we hate the Danes (the eternal enemy)?

Your local Guide tells you facts and stories about the Old Town's past & present and by showing you historic pictures at every stop, the stories come more to life. At our last stop we enjoy a mini "Fika" (Swedish sweet snack), and after the tour you will receive a WhatsApp message to the telephone number in your booking with your guide's local recommendations in town - don't miss it!

This tour can be booked in: English, German, Spanish, Swedish. For large groups and/or if you can not find a suitable day/time: Contact Stockholm Summer Tours and we will work it out! If you are also looking for an active tour: We recommend our Bike Tour, where we cover all of Stockholm.
