Tours depart from Carefree Sundial where you board our Custom Jeep Gladiator and head ten minutes North for a brief photo-op stop at Worlds Largest Kachina Doll just before entering Tonto National Forest. Smooth Pavement ends and off-road begins four miles later as you slow-crawl through Rackensack Canyon with knowledgeable narration by your expert desert guide. Unique plants of the Upper Sonoran Desert will be identified along with discussion of the rich history of Hohokam Native Americans who inhabited Canyon up to 1450 AD.
A short time later the ascending transition to Mountain Chaparral vegetation zone begins as we climb 900 vertical feet over 1.5 miles before reaching summit with absolutely breathtaking views at 4500 foot elevation. The short ride to the top can be a bit dusty & bouncy but is also exhilarating fun with entertaining narration and educational photo stops along trail prior to arrival at Mountain Top Studio/Gift Shop. Here you will enjoy complimentary refreshments with free time to relax on patio while taking in jaw dropping vistas or try your hand at Steer Head Roping and Horseshoes before return trip to Carefree Sundial.
