About This Adventure

Embark on an exhilarating 2.5-hour whale watching adventure in Clayoquot Sound, where you’ll encounter majestic grey and humpback whales, along with playful sea otters and sea lions. Experience the thrill of the open ocean aboard a comfortable Boston Whaler, guided by passionate experts sharing insights into the vibrant marine ecosystem.

What you will see

Guests on our whale watching tours will tour the waters of Clayoquot Sound where we most often view grey whales. From March to November we see over 200 resident grey whales feeding in our waters. We see Killer Whales year round but not every day. Humpback Whales can be sighted from March to September. In addition to whales we see sea otters, sea lions, harbour seals eagles and more on our tours.

Please arrive 30 minutes before the tour’s departure time to be outfitted in floater suits and sign a waiver. At the office our team will provide a safety briefing plus an overview of the tour and area we will be exploring. The boat is docked a short one minute walk from our office.

Enjoy the views of rugged coastline, whales, marine wildlife and so much more. We venture on open ocean to common feeding areas near Long Beach, Vargas Island and Flores Island to view cetaceans in their natural habitat. You will also see sea lions, sea otters, bald eagles, seals and more. Ask us what whales we are seeing when you book your tour!

Cruise through Clayoquot Sound in style and stability onboard our Open Boston Whaler Boats. Powered by twin Suzuki engines, our boats are eco-friendly, fast and stable. Enjoy a 360 view of the rugged coastline and wildlife sightings.

Passengers on board the Open Boston Whaler Boats will wear our Mustang Floater Suits on the tour. PLEASE DRESS IN WARM & WEAR COMFORTABLE LAYERS UNDER YOUR SUIT.

Please check in 30 minutes before your tour departs. Once everyone has checked in, we will head to the dock to start our 2.5 hour adventure. Once underway, your guide will introduce you to the Clayoqout Sound ecosystem and wildlife as we cruise out looking for whales, sea lions, sea otters and more. We will spend time viewing whales while your guide is able to give insights into behaviors and natural history.

This adventure is covered by our Whale Sightings Guarantee. If we do not see whales, you can join us for another tour, free of charge, on standby in the future. Some conditions apply - see our website for details.

Terms & Conditions

Our tour cancellation policy is hassle-free, offering a full refund if you cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled departure. For groups of 10 or more guests, we require a 72-hour notice for cancellations.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the tour departure, including reductions in passenger numbers or changing tour departure times or days are non-refundable. However, if you cancel outside this window, you'll receive a 100% refund. Please note that if you fail to arrive for your tour, you'll be considered a 'No Show,' and no refund will be issued.

We reserve the right to delay or cancel a departure if there are fewer than 4 guests reserved at the time of departure or in case of events beyond our control (adverse weather conditions, technical or mechanical issues etc.).

Please note we do not allow smoking or vaping on the boat or while you are wearing our protective gear, no alcohol or drugs and pets are not allowed on the boat.
