About This Adventure

Experience the thrill of fishing for legendary Chinook and Coho salmon in the stunning waters off Winchester Bay. With fast-paced action and the chance to catch record-breaking fish, this adventure includes ocean crabbing for an extra treat. Enjoy a stable, comfortable ride on top-quality boats designed for an unforgettable day on the water.

About

June thru October we chase bright chrome Chinook Salmon “Kings” and Coho Salmon “Silvers” off the mouth of the Umpqua River out of Winchester Bay.

Winchester Bay is legendary for big chinook salmon (the Umpqua River holds the state record chinook salmon weighing 83 pounds) and is also known to be one of the top producing salmon fisheries on the west coast.

Usually around the end of June, migratory “feeder” salmon frequent the area around Winchester Bay, as the area is rich in feed and good water temps. We target these salmon trolling flashers and cut plug herring, spinners, or lures.

We typically fish within 5 miles of shore and the action can be fast and furious! And we also add ocean crabbing to these trips as an added delight!

Boats & Equipment

No expense is spared on these charters as our new custom designed 33’x 10’ North River Offshore walkaround is big, safe, and fast – powered with twin 300hp Yamaha’s, 25 hp Yamaha, and equipped with a Seakeeper 2 Gyro-Stabilizer that results in a stable fishing platform, reducing the chance of sea sickness.

We also fish out of our custom designed 25’ North River Scout with a Yamaha 300hp, and a Yamaha 9.9 kicker.

We use the highest quality Lamiglas rods, and Shimano Tekota line counter reels.

Details & Departure

We will depart from the dock at Salmon Harbor at Winchester Bay and return after we catch limits of salmon, or 6 hours, whichever comes first.

Daily bag limit of 2 salmon and 12 crab. We will fillet and bag your salmon, but we do not cook or clean crab, but that can be arranged at the local cannery in Winchester Bay for a nominal fee if you’d like.

Ocean salmon trips are only booked with the understanding that, if we can’t get to the salmon grounds due to unsafe ocean or bar conditions that the ocean charter will be converted to a bay salmon trip at the reduced rate if in-season.
