Mist lifts from the road as the van climbs into Rwanda’s high forest, and by midmorning the canopy rises like a living roof around you. On the drive from Kigali—about 4.5 hours through the country of a thousand hills—tea terraces and scattered villages give way to dense, green slopes where primates thread the branches overhead.

The canopy walkway is approximately 200 meters long and sits about 50 meters above the forest floor, offering extensive views across the treetops.
No technical trekking experience is required, but you should be comfortable walking 2–4 hours on uneven, sometimes muddy terrain and using steps and ladders on the trail.
