About

Dating back as early as the Saxons, Notting Hill draws crowds from all over the world all year round, whether you’re there to taste the street food, shop for antiquities, explore the celebrity homes, or have your picture by the famous “Blue Door”. On this 2-hour walking tour, you’ll see the highlights of this trendy urban village in West London.

The area started out as a filthy, crime-filled area in the 18th and 19th centuries, before regenerating into the trendy, expensive, bustling community we now have. Notting Hill is world-famous for its annual street carnival, Portobello Road Market, and the 1999 blockbuster starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.

On your tour, your professional English-speaking guide will lead you through the winding and surrounding streets of the area, focusing on celebrity homes, art, and their artists, the famous “Blue Door”, and filming locations from blockbusters including ‘Paddington 2’, ‘The Italian Job’, ‘Love Actually’, and of course, ‘Notting Hill’.

Your tour will start outside Notting Hill Gate tube station, giving you an opportunity to grab a beverage and snack before you begin, or possibly use the toilet – as there are no scheduled bathroom breaks on this tour. Please aim to arrive 10-15 minutes before the tour starts so your guide can sign you in. From there, your guide will escort you into the thriving community of a Saturday in Portobello Road.

Customers are advised to keep an eye on their belongings at all times, as the market can be busy and popular with pickpockets. You will travel downhill for the duration of the tour, and some of the roads are slightly uneven so we suggest wearing comfortable footwear. The tour will finish on Portobello Road Market. The closest tube station will be Ladbroke Grove; however, your guide can direct you back to Notting Hill Gate station, if you wish. Any questions regarding toilet stops, restaurant recommendations, highlights and general advice, please don’t hesitate to ask your guide.
