The trail opens on a highland wind that strips dust from the road as the van climbs toward Debark, and by evening the sky feels as close as the ridgelines. In the Simien Mountains, plateaus break into razor ridges and plunging valleys; gelada troops scatter across grassy amphitheaters while the Lammergeier wheels overhead, inspecting cliffs for bone marrow.
