You roll out of the garage into open air—no roof, no windshield, just the engine’s rumble and a ribbon of highway leading north. The Polaris Slingshot puts you low to the road; wind and the scent of pine and damp earth sweep across the open cockpit as the city gives way to rolling foothills.
easy.
5–7 hours.
Minimal fitness required; mostly seated driving with short stops for light walking at viewpoints.
Tours start at 9:30 AM and typically last about 5–7 hours, with return between 5:00 and 6:00 PM depending on stops and traffic.
No driving experience is required for passengers; the tour is guided and the operator handles driving when a group vehicle is provided—confirm whether any participants will be driving a Slingshot themselves when booking.
Operators commonly restrict very small children for safety—children under a certain height may not be allowed; check with the vendor for exact limits before booking.
Tours can be canceled for bad weather; the operator typically refunds for cancellations made at least 24 hours prior and will notify guests if rain or unsafe driving conditions require rescheduling.
The route travels through towns shaped by 19th-century Appalachian settlement and Civil War-era events—small museums and historical markers highlight local industry and agriculture.
Stick to paved pullouts and marked viewing areas to limit erosion and protect stream banks; single-day tours have a relatively low footprint but responsible trash and noise practices help keep roadside habitats intact.
