THE ADVENTURE COLLECTIVE® · Independent discovery and booking for outdoor travel

Read the full experience

The boat slips away from the marina and the Nichupté Lagoon narrows into channels where mangroves lean close like quiet guides. A cold drink in hand, you coast past crabs and birds; the water ahead brightens to the open sea and the anchored snorkeling platform waits like a staging point for the reef beyond.

Frequently asked questions

Are snorkel masks and fins provided?

Yes—snorkeling equipment is provided and the snorkel tube is new and yours to keep after the tour.

Is there an age limit for this activity?

Participants must be at least 5 years old; lifejackets and guide supervision make it family-friendly for children who can swim.

Can I visit the MUSA sculptures during the snorkel?

Yes—guides will lead you across the surface to view the underwater sculptures; sculptures are shallow enough to observe from a mask near the surface.

What if I have a back or spinal condition?

This tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries; check with your doctor and notify the operator of any special requirements before booking.

History

MUSA was established in 2009 as a collaboration between artists and conservationists to create artificial reefs and reduce diving pressure on natural sites.

Conservation

Operators emphasize no-touch rules and reef-safe products; the sculptures themselves serve as artificial substrate to encourage coral regrowth and divert tourist traffic from fragile reef areas.
