A dawn bus pulls out of Hanoi’s Old Quarter and the city loosens its grip: rice paddies slide past the windows, karst towers rise like weathered fingers, and the air smells of wet earth and cooking fuel. Day one drops you into Ninh Binh’s quiet—Bai Dinh’s vast Buddha compound looms with bronze bells and arhat statues, then a narrow boat threads Trang An’s low cave mouths where limestone presses close and the river dares you to look up.
