About Walk a little, eat a little and drink a little while exploring the secret laneways of Sydney. Take an evening journey through Sydney’s emerging small bar scene while exploring the city. Discover the small bars that are popping up around the city in heritage buildings and laneways.
Commencing at 6.30pm, your private guide will meet you at your hotel before making your way to the little known Bulletin Place. Open a small brown door and climb to the first level to enjoy the cosy atmosphere of this 45 seat historic cocktail bar. With an ever changing cocktail menu you will not be disappointed with the variety and quality of The Bulletins extensive cocktail menu. Snack on a premium Australian cheese platter with cured meats to start your evening. From here we walk the short distance to Palmer and Co.
Pass by convict built buildings in Bridge Street and across Sydney’s famed Tank Stream and Circular Quay. You will be impressed with the displays of sandstone as you enter the almost secret Abercrombie Lane. Enter a narrow doorway and into a 1920’s bygone era. Celebrating prohibition when alcohol was banned but free flowing, Palmer and Co is adorned with period photos and styling and features regular live music and a wonderful whisky menu. It is your A typical speak easy bar. Relax and enjoy the electric atmosphere.
Departing Palmer and Co we now head down Bridge Lane and onto George Street, and into the heart of the historic Rocks precinct. Admire the stunning Victorian architecture of the grand old buildings as we pass by the oldest Pub in Australia, the Fortune of War, built entirely of convict labour. Pass by Nurses Walk and discover some of the first streets built in Sydney, made of the ballast from the ships of the First Fleet.
Our next stop of the evening is at the Endeavour Tap Rooms located in Argyle Street. The Endeavour Tap Rooms work closely with Australia’s best barley and hop growers to produce the finest in house brewed beers. Situated within a stunning heritage building, the Tap Rooms ooze charm and atmosphere. Admire their impressive brewing display and enjoy a beer paddle featuring their 4 most popular brews. A unique Australian experience. Later settle in with one of your favourites while snacking on pacific oysters or truffle popcorn. From the Endeavour Tap Rooms it is a short walk up George Street to The Doss House. Blink and you will miss the entrance of this subterranean whiskey bar, once used as an Opium Den in the 1800’s by Chinese chasing the great Australian Gold Rush. Settle into a locally produced whisky or gin while admiring the history and ambience of this little known bar. Afterwards your private guide will escort you back to your hotel.
