You step off the parking lot into the sudden hush of sand and escarpment shadows. Twilight slides down Navajo sandstone and the first stars prick the sky; your guide sets up a tripod and a low, patient shutter, hands you a wand of light and an invitation: draw in the air. The dunes take the light like a page, curves and arcs staying visible only because time is stretched by a long exposure.
