Late evening, the mangrove channels tighten and the day’s heat slips off the water. Paddlers push into shadowed tunnels of black roots and moonlight and feel the lagoon respond—each stroke stirs pinpricks of electric blue that race away like startled minnows. Guides steady the group at the edge of Laguna Grande and, when lights are dimmed, the bay seems to breathe light.
