The sea breathes just beyond the lip of the karst; salt and cold stone fill the air as your headlamp slices a path past low scrub and wind-sculpted rock. You meet the guide at Ručica beach beside the "Life on Mars" sign, then step into a coast that seems designed for night: beaches fall away into black water, and the silhouette of Velebit rises like a dark spine on the mainland.
