The sun slides low behind stands of oak and pine, and the New Forest exhales — wide tracks cool, ponies step out of the brake-light dusk, and a hush settles over the heaths. On a Sunset Bike Ride you pedal into that pause between day and night, following quiet gravel drives and compacted bridleways as the forest changes temperature and tone.
moderate.
2–3 hours.
Moderate — you should be comfortable riding for up to three hours with short climbs and some standing pedaling.
The ride is unstructured: you receive a mobile phone route plan rather than a continuous guide, with staff available to fit bikes and explain the route before you leave.
Sunset Ride tickets are limited to groups of up to four to preserve the tranquil atmosphere.
Specialized infant seats are available and the operator requests ages and heights at booking to ensure a proper fit.
Full refunds are available if you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time; no refund within 24 hours.
The New Forest was designated a royal hunting forest by William the Conqueror in the 11th century; commons and grazing rights shaped its open pasture-woodland mosaic.
The park is managed through commoning and habitat restoration; stay on designated tracks and avoid feeding wildlife to reduce disturbance and erosion.
