Estes Park developed in the late 19th century as the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park; craft traditions and tourism grew together as visitor demand for souvenir arts rose.
Visitors should respect seasonal wildlife restrictions (elk rut and calving) and avoid feeding animals; staying on established paths and washing hands after craft sessions reduces local impact.
