Nairobi National Park was created in 1946 to protect wildlife on the Athi-Kapiti plains as Nairobi expanded, making it one of the earliest urban-proximate parks in Africa.
The park is vital for rhino protection and faces pressure from urban growth; visitors are urged to follow guidelines to minimize disturbance and support conservation fees where offered.
