The boat cuts across the Victoria Nile before the river is funneled through a 7‑meter gorge and shoved into the Devil’s Cauldron, a thunderous 40‑meter drop that throws spray like shattered sunlight. Up close the falls command attention; downstream the Nile calms and lines its banks with hippos, crocodiles and long columns of grazing antelope. At dawn the Nyamsika plateau opens to low, golden light and giraffes salt the skyline while lions sometimes move like shadows through the grass.
