Mural & History Walking Tour in Tucson, Arizona

Guests will start with a refreshing drink to walk around with for the Guided Mural and History Walk through Downtown Tucson!

Guests will be taken on a tour through historic landmarks in downtown Tucson. The guide will discuss the origin of Tucson's name, the history of the “Z Mansion,” the story of the Presidio San Agustín, and Tucson’s first maternity ward.

Additionally, guests will learn about and/or visit the following sites:

*Historic Pima County Courthouse- a stunning example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, known for its vibrant pink facade and iconic mosaic dome.

*Pioneer Hotel- is a historic landmark famous for its luxurious past and the tragic 1970 fire that claimed 29 lives.

*Ronstadt Center- a central transportation hub named after the prominent Ronstadt family, known for its role in the city's public transit system.

*Hotel Congress- a historic hotel renowned for its vintage charm and as the site where notorious gangster John Dillinger was captured in 1934.

*Tucson Historic Train Depot- built in 1907, is a beautifully restored landmark that once served as a vital hub for Southern Pacific Railroad and now houses a museum and café

*Murals throughout the city- The murals in Tucson, AZ, are vibrant expressions of the city's rich cultural heritage, showcasing art that reflects its diverse history and community spirit

*Rialto Theater- a historic venue known for its eclectic live performances and as a cornerstone of the city's downtown entertainment scene since 1920

*The Presidio San Agustín. Founded in 1775 by the Spanish military, this fort was located along the Santa Cruz River, near the Native American village of “Chuk-shon.” The fort originally covered 11 acres and was surrounded by a thick adobe wall. Today, the museum sits on the site of the northeast corner of the original Presidio, which has been reconstructed to offer a glimpse into Tucson’s early history.

*How Tucson earned the title of a “Gastronomic Capital” of North America by UNESCO.

When the tour ends the tour guide will point out some great places for lunch within walking distance if the guests would like to grab a bite after the tour!
