A cold bell tolls at Marienplatz and the square fills with the measured shuffle of visitors and locals alike. The guide leads the group beneath the Old Town Hall’s arches, voice rising over tram brakes and café clatter, pointing out the backwards-running clock and the market stalls where spices and sausages trade stories. The route threads through cobbled alleys to the Viktualienmarkt’s buzzing stalls, pauses at the Hofbräuhaus doorway, and presses on toward Max-Joseph-Platz and the Bavarian National Theater.
