You leave Nairobi before dawn, coffee warming your hands as the road climbs into the coffee highlands. The minivan eases through shifting light and farmland; at Karatina you pause for a local cup, then head toward the Naro Moru gate where the rainforest presses close to the road. The trail moves from fern-slick gullies into moss-draped forest, and the mountain’s ridges begin to reveal themselves like a slow, rising wall.
