You emerge from a stand of beeches, the horse's hooves kicking up loamy earth as Atlantic wind pushes the grasses toward the sea. Ahead, a folded limestone skyline rises—stark slabs and green hollows of the Burren—while, on clear days, the Cliffs of Moher and the pale shapes of the Aran Islands sit on the horizon.

The Burren's karst landscape shaped unique farming practices and ancient megalithic sites; Lisdoonvarna grew as a spa and market town in the 19th century.
Stick to marked tracks to protect thin Burren soils and limestone flora; local stables emphasize horse welfare and limited group sizes to reduce trail erosion.
