About This Adventure

This is JUST the registration into the Mountain Leader/Backpacking Guide program through the American Hiking Guides Association. Once you register you'll receive an email with information on how to log information needed for the course.

Registration Fee: $45.00 (non-refundable) This fee also covers your annual AHGA membership for 3 years. After 3 years if you haven't enrolled or taken the course you must pay your annual membership per-year.

Backpacking Guide Program Multi-day travel on Class I to IV terrain in a non-winter environment. This is an entry level course.

Course Description Cost Per Person: $450.00 USD

The Backpacking Guide program is for guides operating for overnights or multiple days on Class I to IV terrain in a non-winter environment on non-glaciated terrain. This is the first stage in becoming a Mountain Leader. After registering into this program you will be issued a logbook where you must log 40 "mountain days" before enrolling in a course. This course is 4 to 5 days, depending upon the providers format but is a minimum of 65 hours and includes one overnight trip.
