THE ADVENTURE COLLECTIVE® · Independent discovery and booking for outdoor travel

Read the full experience

A cold wind pushes across the Sea of Sand as the sky eases from ink to indigo. By torchlight, jeeps thread out of Sukapura into the caldera; by the time the first pale slice of sun breaks, the crown of Mount Bromo and the jagged silhouette of Semeru are lit in hard, shifting gold. Photographers crowd Penanjakan and King Kong Hill, but space on the quieter right-hand ledges reveals low clouds pooling like slow rivers.
