The sun is still cool when the convoy peels away from Dubai’s glass-and-steel skyline and heads southeast toward the Lahbab red dunes. Sand rises and falls like a living ocean; the driver’s hands and the vehicle’s suspension work together as you climb, crest and drop through 45 minutes of heart-pounding dune bashing. On quieter stretches the dunes seem to breathe, and the low light throws long, sculpted shadows perfect for photographs.
