You arrive before dawn and the dune line is a low, dark ridge that slowly brightens into rust and gold as the sun climbs. The 4x4 peels off the hard track and the dunes start to move beneath the tires—each crest a small mountain that dips and rises under the vehicle’s roar. The desert dares you forward; wind-polished ridges steer the caravan toward a Bedouin-style camp where cushions, carpets and steaming Arabic coffee await.

Operators usually allow children but require seatbelts and sometimes booster seats; infants should be secured and families should check age/height rules with the operator.
Light, breathable long sleeves and pants, closed-toe shoes, a hat and sunglasses; mornings can be cool before sunrise but warm quickly after.
Dune bashing and bumpy rides are not recommended for guests with spinal injuries, heart conditions, or pregnancy—inform the operator when booking to choose suitable options.
The region’s Bedouin tribes navigated these sands for centuries; camels and falconry were integral to hunting and transport long before motorized vehicles arrived.
Stick to designated tracks and follow guide directions—driving off marked routes damages fragile dune systems and vegetation; dispose of waste at the camp to limit human impact.
Tribal Trails Tours operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
