7-8 Hours
Beer Hiking Bavaria author Rich Carbonara takes you into the Bavarian countryside, through the Murnau Moors and visit innovative either Weissbier specialty brewery Karg or Griesbräu in Murnau.
The hike is 14 km or a little more than 8.5 miles. On clear days, you'll see the Alps in the distance. The route passes through both forest and open areas before crossing the fragile moors on a wooden boardwalk path. There is an especially scenic Biergarten on the route and if open, we can stop in. Back in Murnau, we'll visit Griesbräu to sample their great traditional Bavarian food and beer or if we missed the Biergarten, we can opt to go to Weissbier specialty brewery Karg.
Note there is 240m/790 ft over the course of the hike.
*Please note that small breweries take vacations even during the summer and sometimes even close for a day on a whim. While note likely, it is possible that a planned stop might be closed.
Transportation to and from Munich via public transportation and guided hiking on Murnau Moos. First beer is on me.

In Munich, the meeting point is inside the Main Train station (HBF) in front of the Yorma convenience store on the north side of the station at 9:00. Please be there promptly as we’ll need to catch a train to our starting point.
Tours go rain or shine and since these are hiking tours, we’ll be outside most of the day. Please bring a small pack to carry the essentials: rain jacket, extra layer, filled water bottle and a temperature appropriate hat. In cooler months, bring something warm just in case the temperature drops. Please wear comfortable weather appropriate walking shoes.
