Mobile Barrel Raft-Building in Hamburg: Team-Building on the Water

On the banks of Hamburg's inner waterways, Floßbau mit Fässern - mobil turns a company outing into a hands-on engineering race. This mobile raft-building event brings teams to green pockets around the city — Haynspark / Eppendorf, Eichenpark an der Außenalster, Alsterwiesen Klein Borstel, Rothenburgsort / RV Bille, or even your own grounds (Eigenes Gelände nach Absprache) — where groups design, lash, and launch craft made from barrels, planks and rope. Over two hours of guided activity, staff lead introductions, warm-up team games, design planning, construction, and a maiden voyage, with optional raft races and post-event grill or burger options. The experience is built for groups: corporate teams, school classes, or private parties. Facilitators break participants into teams of four to eight, prompt a short team-analysis phase, and provide tools and materials so every raft becomes a prototype that reveals communication patterns as reliably as it floats. Materials favor simple, robust components — barrels for buoyancy, timber for structure, and lashings that teach mechanical advantage. That hands-on focus makes this both a low-tech problem-solving workshop and a memorable outdoor play session on Hamburg’s waterways. What sets this program apart is mobility and adaptability. Instead of a single base, the operator stages events at specific local green spaces — including the exact names Haynspark / Eppendorf, Eichenpark an der Außenalster, Alsterwiesen Klein Borstel, and Rothenburgsort / RV Bille — and will discuss Eigenes Gelände if your company prefers privacy. That flexibility means the city’s varied waterfronts become classrooms: park-edge currents, reed-lined banks, and the mix of clay and sand on landing strips all influence design decisions and inject local geography into each build. Expect practical coaching rather than theatrical instruction. Teams learn basic raft principles, on-water safety during the Jungfernfahrt, and how small design changes affect stability. Optional extras include a communal BBQ or burger meal for a relaxed debrief. The meeting point is arranged per booking ("Bitte unten wählen"), and the two-hour rhythm is scalable to longer team-building days. Bookings typically split teams into 4–8 people and optional catering is available (Burgeressen + 20,00 € p. P.; BBQ + 50,00 € p. P.), so organizers can choose a practical debrief that matches their goals. Plans are customizable to team objectives today.
