About

A full day spent on the Middle Fork Smith is a good day. Class II+ rapids that are friendly to kayak for active beginners (some III's at some flows), organic lunch, beautiful forest and a float-by tour of small but historic Gasquet await paddlers on this trip. Depending on river levels, we will start at one of three put-in locations: Madrona River Access (11.6 miles), Panther Flat Campground (8.1 miles) or the Gasquet Forks (confluence of North and Middle forks for 5.6 miles)

The Middle Fork Smith is perfect for those looking to paddle through some great class II to III- rapids but still have plenty of chances to relax and soak in the scenery.

Adventure Tips

Wear quick-drying clothing

Since you'll be on the water and potentially splashing into Rapids, choose apparel that dries fast and keeps you comfortable.

Bring sun protection

Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to shield against the California sun, especially during midday trips.

Secure your belongings

Use waterproof bags or cases for cameras, phones, and valuables to keep them dry during the float.

Arrive early

Getting to the launch site a little ahead of schedule ensures a smooth start and plenty of time for gear fitting.
