Early light hits the Cordón del Plata and the river answers with a bright, rushing voice: this is Potrerillos, where Andean meltwater dares you forward. You meet at a base camp beneath riparian trees for a safety briefing, then push off into class II (and in the classic option a few class III) rapids that run through a sculpted, alluvial valley. The river moves you past cobbled banks and scrubby slopes while the peaks of the Andes keep watch to the west.
