Embark on a captivating 2.5-hour journey through ancient Rome, stepping onto the Colosseum's arena floor and exploring the Roman Forum. Led by expert guides, you'll uncover the rich history of gladiators, senators, and emperors while marveling at iconic temples and luxurious palaces, making for an unforgettable experience.
Begin your tour at the meeting point where our tour manager and one of our knowledgeable and experienced guides will introduce you to the rest of your group. You will then receive an introduction into one of the greatest and most iconic buildings in the world, the Colosseum. The amphitheatre, which was built by emperor Vespasian and completed by his son Titus, is one of the seven wonders of the world, and we want to give you a complete understanding of its history as well as the best group tour experience possible. You and your small group will enter through the special group entrance which leads directly onto the arena floor where gladiators fought and died centuries ago. We will walk around the colossal structure where ancient Romans used to cheer on their heroes, gamble and marvel at the exotic animals from all parts of the enormous Roman Empire. Enjoy walking around inside the building and taking photographs of your favorite highlights. Your guide will also take you to the Roman Forum. The forum was the heart and soul of the ancient city with many of its most important temples and political buildings that can still be seen today. Entering near the Senate House the group will continue past the law courts, triumphal arches and beautiful Temples, including the famed temple of Julius Caesar where his ashes were laid to rest. We will climb the gentle slopes of the Palatine Hill where rich Romans and emperors lived. Under the umbrella pines, which scatter the landscape, we will explore the palace of the emperors, home of the most powerful people in the ancient world. You will learn more about the lives of these great (and occasionally quite mad) men, visiting the stately dining rooms and serene gardens, getting an idea of the unbelievable luxury that they would have lived in. At the end of the tour, our guides will always be more than willing to answer any further questions as well as offer advice on how best to see the city with many helpful tips.
