You arrive to the rock before the town crowds—wind skimming the water, the reservoir daring you to step closer. La Piedra del Peñol rises in a raw block of granite, its sheer face punctured by the staircase that threads skyward. From the top, the lake’s fingers carve the highlands like a living map and the colored facades of Guatape glint along the shore.
