About This Adventure

Kayak C is the third session of the Kayak ABC beginner series designed for those who have already taken the Learn to Kayak, Kayak A and B classes. Kayak C will fine-tune basic paddling skills, review more advanced bracing strokes and introduce the wet-exit plus rescue techniques. These skills are essential for managing wind, waves and current on longer journeys. The ABC's of Kayak is perfect for those that want to build stamina, skills and confidence for longer kayak tours. Each Kayak ABC practice session begins in a protected embayment on the Hoboken side of the Hudson River with stunning views of Manhattan as the backdrop. A certified guide will lead the skills practice, take the group out onto the river and work with each individual participant to improve skills.

Every class follows the American Canoe Association curriculum and industry standards for risk management. The “challenge by choice” model will be used to ensure comfort while allowing each person to participate at his or her own level and develop skills at his or her own speed. These classes are available by request several times each week throughout the season in order to provide flexible scheduling options. Please note: This class is designed for adults over 18.
