About This Adventure

Embark on a thrilling 3-day sea kayaking expedition where you'll enhance your skills and confidence while planning your own adventure. Guided by experts, learn essential techniques in navigation, camping, and food preparation, all while enjoying the beauty of nature. This unique experience also counts towards your Paddle Australia qualification.

Using your new found knowledge of sea kayaking, winds, tides and charts you can plan and paddle your own Expedition with the help of our guides.

Duration

3 days / 2 nights We will meet at a cafe nearby for briefing & route planning session (you will be notified of the time & location during the week leading up to the expedition). Finish time on Day 3 is variable and will depend on the weather and tides. It could be an early start but generally not later than mid-afternoon to allow for packing up and driving home but it is advisable not to plan any black-tie galas for that evening.

You will learn & develop through:

  • consolidating basic kayaking skills and building your confidence and expertise
  • planning a kayaking adventure; knowledge of waterproofing equipment, loading a sea kayak,
  • understanding the clothing, equipment and provisions used in sea kayak expeditions
  • understanding the principles of food preparation, menu planning and using portable stoves.
  • developing kayak camping skills - utilizing principles of minimum impact camping and using tarpaulins to provide shelters in sun or rain.
  • route planning to compensate for tidal influence and weather conditions
  • negotiating protruding land masses, constrictions, shipping channels, effects of wind and tide ferry gliding (weather dependent).
  • developing leadership skills for group management.

What to bring

Participants will need to bring:
