About

Kayak B is the second session of the Kayak ABC beginner series designed for those who have already taken the Learn to Kayak and Kayak A class. Kayak B follows the American Canoe Association curriculum and will include a review of basic paddling skills plus more advanced steering strokes. As participant skills and river conditions allow, there will be some practice of these techniques on the river in moving water. The ABC's of Kayaking is perfect for those that want to build stamina and skills for our longer kayak tours or trips in other locations. Each Kayak ABC practice session begins in a protected embayment on the Hoboken side of the Hudson River with stunning views of Manhattan as the backdrop. A certified guide will lead the skills practice, take the group out onto the river and help participants improve their skills .

Every class follows the American Canoe Association curriculum and industry standards for risk management. The “challenge by choice” model will be used to ensure comfort while allowing each person to participate at his or her own level and develop skills at his or her own speed. These classes are offered several times each week throughout the season in order to provide flexible scheduling options. Please note: This class is designed for adults over 18. Teens 13- 17 may be able to join when accompanied by a parent. Advance approval is required.

Discover a new way to stay fit outdoors and explore New York and New Jersey during the ABC skills progression for beginners. Our fantastic guides are here to give you the guidance and experience you need to build up to longer tours and adventures!
