This 1.5-hour advanced beginner/intermediate kayak course focuses on improving paddling techniques with advanced strokes and refinement of basic skills. Strategies for management of tides, waves, wind are river currents will also be included. The course takes place in both protected embayments and out on the Hudson River with stunning views of Manhattan as the back drop.
The class follows the American Canoe Association curriculum and industry standards for risk management and is ideal for people who want to work towards longer kayak journeys or paddling on their own. The “challenge by choice” model will be used to ensure comfort while allowing each person to participate at his or her own level and develop skills at his or her own speed. Prior kayaking experience is required for this course. Get back on the water and improve your kayak skills.
