You step onto a long, hand-tied bamboo raft and the river takes the lead: current nudges the craft around bends, over shallow shoals, and beneath a cathedral of bending bamboo that leans like an audience watching the voyage. The raft captain — steady, chatty, and skilled with a long pole — guides you past overhanging ferns, small limestone outcrops, and the pockets of sunlight that break the canopy.
