The raft slips from the shore like a slow exhale — bamboo poles tapping the riverbed as you settle onto the flat, hand‑woven platform. Trees lean low and green over the Martha Brae, their leaves shading the water that carries you downstream; the current nudges the raft forward and the raftsman tells a story, then points to a limestone shelf where he’ll apply a gentle exfoliating paste.
easy.
2–3 hours.
Suitable for most fitness levels; requires basic mobility for boarding and occasional standing on the raft.
The river float itself is about two hours as part of a roughly three‑hour excursion including transport and a shopping stop.
Yes — the float is gentle; infants usually sit on an adult’s lap and the tour is rated easy, though basic mobility for boarding is required.
Expect occasional splashes but not immersion; life jackets may be available on request—follow your raft captain’s safety instructions.
Entrance fees and round-trip transport are included, but gratuities, lunch, and purchases at the shopping stop are at your own expense.
The Martha Brae area has long been a local transport route and cultural corridor; rafting evolved from practical river travel into an interpretive tradition guided by generations of raft captains.
The river corridor is sensitive to runoff and pollution — choose operators who adhere to low‑impact practices and use reef‑safe products to protect aquatic life.
