The convoy leaves Marrakech before dawn, engines stirring the High Atlas air as the road climbs toward Tizi n’Tichka. Mountain shoulders open to ochre plains; by afternoon the fortified silhouette of Ait Ben Haddou appears, its sunbaked kasbahs catching the light like old film frames. Over the next two days travelers trade paved passes for palm-lined valleys and finally the rippling sea of Erg Chebbi, where a camel caravan carries the group to a luxury haima camp on the dune’s lee.

Typical camel caravans take about 45–60 minutes from the dune edge to the haima camp—enough time to watch the light change on the sand.
Haima camps here offer furnished tents with mattresses, blankets, shared sanitary facilities, and warm meals—comfort-forward but not hotel-level plumbing in some camps.
The itinerary includes two breakfasts and two dinners, typically local dishes served at hotels and at the camp; bring snacks for long drives if you prefer.
Not recommended for pregnant travelers or those with serious back or cardiovascular conditions; infants and small children can join but check camel safety and transfer logistics with the operator.
