You step out of Marrakech’s ochre streets before dawn, the driver threading the city’s hum into the rising light as the High Atlas takes shape ahead. Mountain passes carve the sky; villages cling to slopes and the road opens to gorges and palm-lined valleys until the dunes of Erg Chebbi appear like a slow-moving sea of gold.
