You arrive at Morne Fortune Lay-By as wind and trade breeze argue over the hilltops, the city of Castries tucked below while the sea stretches a flat, bright promise toward the horizon. The drive down the west coast feels deliberate: palms lean like skeptical hosts, and the road reveals coastal coves before spilling into the narrow inlet of Marigot Bay, where the water seems to dare you to stay a while.
