Operated by 4thStoryCharters · Marco Island, Florida
The boat slips away from the Marco Island docks and the mainland recedes: mangrove fingers thread the channel, a breeze cuts the heat, and the shoreline opens into a scatter of small islands where sand accumulates in quiet crescents. Within minutes the horizon is punctuated by the domes of Cape Romano and low, shell-strewn beaches that seem to have been left for you alone.

Suitable for most fitness levels; requires short, flat beach walks and boarding a small boat
Tours typically depart from Marco Island; exact meeting location is provided at booking and is within easy reach of local hotels.
No—removing live mollusks or protected species is prohibited in many parts of the refuge; collect only empty shells and follow your guide’s rules.
Yes—this private tour accommodates families; infants must sit on an adult’s lap and the pace is tailored to your group.
Common sightings include bottlenose dolphins, manatees, shorebirds like pelicans and terns, and occasional rays or sea turtles near the shore.
The area was once home to the Calusa people and later became a seasonal fishing and boatbuilding hub; Cape Romano’s dome structures are modern landmarks built in the 1980s.
Much of the route runs through protected waters—practice leave-no-trace, avoid disturbing nesting birds, and never remove living creatures to help preserve fragile coastal systems.
