The bus pulls out of Cusco before dawn and the high, dry air seems to push you down the road — the Andes loosening its grip as the world thickens into cloud forest and then true Amazon humidity. Ferns unfurl like slow hands along the roadside; orchids cling to trunks and rivers run impatient, daring you into deeper green.

Moderate: days involve bus travel, short to moderate hikes in cloud forest and lowland jungle, and boat transfers—suitable for those comfortable walking for 1–3 hours with breaks.
Consult a travel clinic: yellow fever is recommended for Amazon travel; bring malaria prophylaxis if advised and carry any personal medications.
Simple jungle lodges with private or shared rooms, bathrooms and hot showers are used; meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are included on most days.
