At Next Chapter Winery, located at 16945 320th St., New Prague, Minnesota, an evening Candle Making Experience turns simple materials into a personal keepsake. TS Home Studio leads the class beginning at 5 PM, guiding each participant through scent selection from more than fifty premium fragrance oils before a step-by-step pour of a 14oz wood-wick candle made with 100% natural soy wax. The workshop takes place inside the winery's event space with views across the property; the address is 16945 320th St., New Prague, MN 56071, USA.
The experience is organized as a station-based flow so guests move from smelling and blending to pouring and finishing. Key features include the scent bar with an extensive oil library, the wood-wick that delivers a soft crackle and balanced flame, and soy wax that sets in roughly 1.5-2 hours. Capacity is limited to thirty people, which keeps instruction close and atmosphere sociable. While your candle rests you can purchase a glass of wine or a handcrafted mocktail from the host venue to sip between stations.
This offering stands out in the region because it pairs hands-on craft with a working vineyard setting. It's an evening that combines sensory learning - mixing top, middle, and base notes - with the comforting cadence of a local winery. The process highlights low-impact materials: plant-derived soy wax and natural fragrance oils that produce fewer petroleum byproducts than paraffin. The final product is both practical and personal: a durable, scented 14oz candle with a wooden wick that evokes the evening you made it.
Visitors will find the activity accessible for a range of interests: creatives testing a new hobby, couples seeking a casual date night, or groups wanting a memorable team activity. Practical details are straightforward—beverages are sold separately, the class is standing and station-based, and finished candles require setting time before they can be taken home. The event is an easy add-on for travelers based in New Prague or nearby towns who want an indoor, weather-independent outing tied to local flavor.
Beyond craft, the evening offers an opportunity to connect with small businesses in Rice County and to bring home an item you made yourself. Whether you leave with a citrus-herb blend or a spice-forward signature scent, the Candle Making Experience at Next Chapter Winery gives you a handmade reminder of a Minnesota evening shaped by scent, care, and community.
Plan to arrive a few minutes early to check in at the winery and claim your spot at the scent bar; parking is available on-site near the event space. The standing format rewards comfortable footwear and a light jacket for cooler evenings. Takeaway labels and simple care instructions are provided so your candle burns cleanly at home—ideal for gifting or keeping.
